Orolas

Wassad

Wassad is the westernmost coastal region of Orolas. Due to the dramatic changes in both altitude and latitude, the entire region has a wide variety of climates and ecosystems.

The western continent of Wassad runs north and south in a mostly crescent shape. As a result, it has the full impact of the climate changes due to latitude. Cool to near freezing in the far north and south, and warm and tropical at the equator. Mountains dominate the extremes, while lakes and forests fill the central region with lots of space to thrive and defend when necessary.

  • The Ridinall- Large northern peninsula that has a mountainous central highland, and a wandering coast that has a wide variety of beaches. Some are sandy, while the southeastern coastline is rocky and has dangerous cliffs. The northern tip descends into lowlands and brackish swamps that can become frozen in cold snaps. Winds from storms can create surges that can change the water levels quickly.
    • Nialis Mountains- Mountain range in the north central region, rugged and known for it's deep valleys and steep slopes. There is only one east/west passageway in the middle, but it is quite steep and dangerous.
  • Tols Mountains-Volcanic mountain group in the north central area just south of The Ridinall. It features steep and rocky slopes, with three distinct circular craters in the center. They are surrounded by lush jungles and tall forests, giving them a surreal stature when seen rising above the green canopy.
  • Juvin Mountains- Mountain range in the southern half of the region with a prominent central range of peaks. The slopes around those are mostly hilly and rocky, but significant cliffs and slopes still dot the region. Many tiny ecosystems flourish here, due to the many microclimates produced from the terrain.
  • Cratys Peninsula- Southern Peninsula that smoothes the tail of the Juvin Mountains into rolling hills. With rich prairies and plains, the region is mild and gets plentiful rain.
  • Yarric Islands- A small cluster of exposed rocky islands off of the southern coast. There is some dense vegetation along the dark and sandy seashores, but they quicly become towering monoliths of stone that have withstood the throes of severe storms and steady winds.
  • Lotfir- Large island off the western coast with several lakes and one large rise. This is a dense rainforest island, which is very difficult to navigate due to thick and well established undergrowth. The tallest trees tower above the tangled lower canopy like stewards tending to their charges.
  • Ulin Hills- south of the great lake, running west to east
  • Festler Basin- Triple lake basin north of the hills
    • Lake Qaron- One great lake with Island
    • Makaron- Northern pass off of the Festler Basin
  • Araline Basin- east of hills, higher in elevation than the Festler Basin
    • Ghambol- Central pass off of the Araline Basin
  • Whistia Basin- Lake basin south of the hills with two lakes and lowlands
  • Phagic Ocean is to the west, where the sun is swallowed every day.
